Hi my name is Nikki Durrant. I live in Mid Wales in a village called Pont – rhyd – y – groes. I have lived here now for about 6 years after being born and bred in South London. I have been in the Beauty Industry now for just over 20 years with most of my training being completed in London and Kent. Since living in Wales I have updated some of my training skills. I like to keep up to date with the latest trends and with what is going on in the industry.
I started Niks Nails and Beauty four years ago after seeing there was no mobile beauty / hair services in our rural community. Many of the people who live here are older but there was also a great number of younger ones too that found getting into a major town a problem. Our nearest town is Aberystwyth which is 15 miles away.
So I asked the locals lots of questions, did leaflet drops to all the villages, demonstrations for the youth club, Women’s Institute (Merched Yswyth) and the community carnival. Nik’s Nails and Beauty was rural!!
I’d worked in a salon and spa in London and had also provided a mobile service alongside this too, so it was only fitting for Nik’s Nails to be brought to Wales.
